A new edition of the C&C4 Developer Q&A has been released on the Official C&C Forums. Edition 15 features questions covering gameplay, story, and how C&C 4 will be distributed! Check it out below.


If you do not have a friend to play with for the co-op campaign, can you play it alone or with an AI ally?

There are no co-commanders in CNC4 – if you don’t have a co-op buddy, you play alone and the mission is rebalanced as appropriate.

How can Nod counter the mighty Mastodon?

The Mastodon is a very powerful unit and can be difficult to counter at first. Any support unit will be able to tear apart unprotected Mastodons, especially Basilisks whose chain lightning can hit multiple Mastodons at a time. As an Offense player, Widows excel at taking out Mastodons and even smaller units like Scorpion Tanks and Stealth Tanks have the firepower to knock out Mastodons. As Defense, it is very difficult to counter Mastodons since the Mastodon is primarily an anti-Defense unit, but High Confessors with their chain lightning are your best bet. The reason why most players are decimated by Mastodons is because of the Mastodon’s area of effect weapon. Most players simply right click to attack the group of Mastodons and as the units move forward and try to get in range, they are all being obliterated by the Mastodon’s volley because they are all closely clumped. The trick is to surround the Mastodons (by burrowing, stealth, or simply attacking from different areas), and then make sure as few of your units are hit by each Mastodon’s volley. Once you’ve knocked out 1 or 2, send in Engineers to capture them and use the Mastodons against your opponent.

What brings Tiberium Crystals to the battlefield?

That is an Idris Corporation lifter, used by the Tiberium Control Network to return (relatively) stable processed Tiberium to the battlefield or construction area where it may be of use.

What kind of mission objectives will there be in the single player campaign?

All of our objectives are lab based. In CNC4, you can capture a lab, destroy a lab, defend a lab and even escort a lab! =) There will be many different objective types in C&C4, stay tuned to future Q&A's for more!

Will C&C4 be out on Steam and other download services?

Yes, C&C 4 will be available on digital download services, such as the EA Store and Steam.

The GDI Refrator Unit Profile was posted on the Official C&C Site

The Refractor’s iconic reflective shield is a marvel of engineering. It is constructed with several layers of material, each serving a different defensive application. The outermost layer is a crystal-lattice sustained by an electromagnetic field. Solid weapons may pass through the crystal layer, which is then immediately reconstructed by the energy field, as though a pebble had just passed through water. This allows the reflective portion of the shield to remain effective even after repeated projectile impacts. Next is a honey-comb alloy heavy armor built to resist kinetic force and heat-based weaponry. Most conventional weapons simply bounce off this ultra-hard layer of armor. The final layer in the shield plate is an 18-inch thick metal composite which absorbs any remaining incoming fire. This layer is extremely heavy, so the Refractor is built upon a Mammoth chassis to support the weight.

The Obelisk of Light has long been the Brotherhood's foremost symbol of "Peace Through Power." Standing at an imposing twenty meters tall and tipped with a red focusing crystal, the black monolith exists to protect Nod installations from ground assault. The Obelisk has been continuously upgraded over its long and distinguished history, culminating in the TW3-era "Isis" iteration, powerful enough to cut through Mammoth Tanks while also demonstrating the flexibility required to sweep across waves of infantry. Combined with its ability to link with Nod Beam Cannons for extended range and firepower, the "Isis" Obelisk was the most deadly defensive structure of the Third Tiberium War.

It starts! It is time to put your skills to the test. In the "Warlords Championship" (WCS), the best of the best players of Command & Conquer from different countries will compete with each other! The tournament is jointly organized by CnCSaga.com and CNC-Welten.de. This tournament is the result of full cooperation between our two sites.

It's done! It is set at the time your skills to the test. In the "Warlords Championship (WCS), the best of the best Command & Conquer players from different countries compete against each other! The Warlords Championship is a tournament organized Jointly by CnCSaga.com and CnC Welten.de. The tournament marks the full cooperation of both sides.

This tournament is not an isolated event but the beginning of a new series of tournaments. All these tournaments will be held here under the name "Warlords Championship. These tournaments can be with Kane's Wrath, Tiberium Wars or other Command & Conquer Red alert 3 which. For this first tournament, we chose Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. This is a 1vs1 tournament. In another paragraph of this text, you will find the rules for the tournament.
You can register on both forums (you must be connected, which requires free registration). Please enter your ICQ or E-mail or other contact information so we can send you the dates.

The tournament is not a one time event to the beginning of a whole series of tournaments. All tournaments are held here under the official name of "warlords Championship." The tournaments can be run KW or other Command & Conquer shares both like TW and AR3. Our current event dealing with Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. These are 1 vs . 1 tournament. Overall: 2-player game or 1V1. The maximum number of players is limited to 32 people. It will be played in KO system.

Blue screen and other bugs: If there is a bug before the end of the match, the match must be replayed. You must arrange with your opponent to do it again.
Bluescreen / any other bug: If any bugs occur that would cause an early end of the match, the match may be restarted. You have to arrange yourself with your opponent to do so.

Dates: 2 opponents must find a common day for their game, they give you 3 days to do so. If you can not find a date in 3 days, the administration will assign a date for your team.
Fixing a date: Each party has to find a date on their own, you're given 3 days to do so. If you can not find any dates fitting within 3 days, the administration is going to assign a date to your team.

Communication: It is possible that Germans are against the French and vice versa, if that happens, you can seek help at the tournament staff (listed below) for help.

After 3 minutes it is notpossible to restart a match, and the one who disconnected will be defeated. In heavy boxes (disconnecting over and over again) you can get disqualified.

Many people believe that C&C4 will be the final game in the C&C series forever. This, of course is not true and is explained in this post by APOC at the official forums:

C&C; 4 is the end of the current Tiberium storyline, but there is a future for the Command & Conquer franchise as our new RTS leader, Jon Van Caneghem has alluded to in his interview at GamaSutra not that long ago. I will say, many of the preconceived notions from that interview are very far fetched.

I can tell you with 100% certainty, involving you, the community, in the future of the C&C; franchise, will be critical and important to us.

For now, our dev team is focused on completing a great game that will be C&C; 4. Just IMO, I think it may surprise.

Hello APOC, You work for EA how came and how did you get there?


APOC: My story of how I started working at EALA isn't exactly a "by the book" tale, but more of sci-fi fairytale, oooz ah! Haha. In all seriousness, to make a long story short, one of my best friends, David Silverman, who you all know as the former BattleCast Primetime co-host, was a fraternity brother of my mine in college at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). David is a year older than me, when he graduated, he acquired a job as a Marketing Assistant on The Lord of the Rings at our EA Redwood Shores HQ. A year later when I was graduating college he told me they were building the marketing department at EALA and I'd be a perfect fit, given my passionate interest in video games and a few jobs in my past. He put in a GREAT word, and I had two pretty short interviews, about 15 mins in all, and they asked me to come work at EALA as a marketing assistant on LOTR BFME 1 for 3 months, no guarantees.

I said HELL **** YEAH! Slept on a friends floor for 1 month, then got a place with a friend in LA, 3 months later EA wanted to hire me, but as business goes, space wasn't open at the time. It took about a year for a spot to finally open up, and that spot was as an Assistant Producer/Marketing Liaison/Community Manager on the BFME/C&C Development Team. I had already become the quasi-LOTR C&C Community Manager prior, so the official hire on the dev team made perfect sense, and lo and behold, the rest is history as you can see now. Little known secret, my technical title is Associate Producer =) Also, my bosses at EALA have been Craig Owens, Mark Skaggs, Mike Verdu, Amer Ajami, Pete Larsen, Mike Glosecki, Jeff Charvat, and now Jon Van Caneghem. Yeah, I've had a few managerial switches, none were my fault though!

It's been a while since we last covered Dawn of the Tiberium Age (by which I mean I moved a post into the news section ;-^) ), but DotTA has now released version 1.10. This popular Tiberian Sun mod recreates Tiberian Dawn while giving it several enhancements thanks to the newer engine. Download it right here!
