-- Freeplay 2010! -- Posted On 29 August 2010

in Australia, Melbourne on the 14th and 15th of August was the Freeplay Independant Game Festival.

Among those who came to this event, Tiberian Sun Rising one of our in-house projects here at CnC Source. Was featured at this festival and the people there got the first public-gaming of Tiberian Sun Rising! The event was a resounding success. Tiberian Sun Rising was so popular we had people coming back from the first day who played it wanting to play more! The key thing was that people said it was fun! so TS Rising is certainly headed in the right direction. Please check our ModDBfor our largest update ever!

Stay tuned for more! and Thankyou.

- Title: Tiberian Sun Rising - Post-Freeplay Festival 2010 Update! -- Posted On: 29 August 2010 - 09:08 AM

To Top of Page

Freeplay Game Festival - 2010, Good Welcome Citizens
On the 14-15th of August those lucky enough to visit the Freeplay Independent Games Festival in Australia, Melbourne. Got the first public hands-on of Tiberian Sun Rising multilayer, the event was a blast! we got some fantastic feedback and some very interesting match's where played. So we took on board what we learned from watching people play to make TS:Rising even better! but the key thing we took back from the people who played TSR. Was that it was fun! it was a two-day event and we had people coming back from the first day to play more. Which I was delighted to witness, I David "Assassin" Thompson (Game Designer/Producer on TSRising) was on-site at the event. Here are some photo's from Freeplay! 2010, if you were there dont be a stranger and post in some comments here on our ModDb! This is probably our single largest update to date so please enjoy!

One Vision, One Purpose. David? - Interview
The crew over at MakingStuffIsFun.com took some time to interview me regarding Tiberian Sun Rising, which covers our origins and how we got to where we are today an informative interview for those curious about the people behind Tiberian Sun Rising!

The Tiberian Sun has Risen!
Next up, we get a good look at the Snow Camouflage of the GDI, and also how the Brotherhood of Nod will appear on the Snow maps in TS:Rising. The Temple of Nod modelled by Halfie and textured by Xiras also makes an appearance. We got some new PostFX you may notice giving our maps a more environmental look (thankyou Asuka) and for the maps I thank General Aurum. Theres a number of new additions/changes shown in this update I haven't mentioned see if you can figure out what they are :).

The Technology of Peace!
Lastly concept art has become a regular thing here at TS:Rising and as a big fan of concept art I present to you the Nod Subterranean Mobile Construction Vehicle! Concepted by Drift you may have seen earlier versions of this vehicle before this is the final result.

Thankyou!
I'd also like to thank our Australian wing of TS:Rising Joshua, Luke, Jamie and Mark who appeared at the event and were on hand to help run the TS Rising stand thankyou guys! made the weekend alot easier. I'd also like to give a shout out to Golan and Asuka from the German wing of the TSRising team for joining me in some very late nights working on TS:Rising leading up to the event. And of course a big thank you to every single member of the TS:Rising team for their hard work and commitment leading up to Freeplay and beyond. I'd also like to give a special thankyou to Paul Callaghan and team at Freeplay for organising such a fantastic event and allowing us to partake in it. Lastly thanks the fans for sticking around and supporting TS Rising throughout its long development cycle up to this point we've reached significant milestone.

Hey everybody. I mentioned a while back that I would be uploading scans of old C&C material in various magazines as I got a hold of them, well here's a new batch. Back then I uploaded scans from the October 1999 issue of PC Gamer, well here are new scans from the December 1996 issue of PC Gamer featuring Red alert, and from the November/Dec 1998 issue of Cinescape Magazine.

Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

There's more to come. I've got a February 1997 issue of Computer Gaming World with a high resolution cover of this image that I have yet to scan, among several others:

- Title: Tiberian Sun Rising - Tiberium Lifeform Detected -- Posted On: 25 July 2010 - 09:02 AM

To Top of Page

Welcome, here is the latest in our line of update's on Tiberian Sun Rising,

I'd like thank people for their patience waiting for this update and would like to extend a big thank you to the entire Tiberian Sun Rising Dev team for their hardwork and continued dedication to this project thanks guys this wouldn't be possible without you.

For this update I'd like to extend a shout out to Joshua Wright one of our newest team member's for his outstanding work on the Tiberium Fiend shown in this update. Enjoy!

---------------INCOMING TRANSMISSION---------------

The Global Defence Initiative launched a raid on what appear's to be a Nod Supply Base a possible staging area for one of the many Nod splinter faction's. The proximity to nearby GDI force's prompted "A Direct Response" as quoted from the GDI Commander who gave the order. The GDI used this occasion to do their first combat strike with the newest development in the ORCA series of Aircraft, the ORCA Bomber. We managed to obtain Satellite Imagery of the Carpet Bombing assault on this Nod Base.

Posted Image

General Hassan himself commissioned the new deployment of Nod's latest technology in Tiberium Harvesting, Not much is yet known about the specifics of this new deployment but Nod has been known to be at the cutting edge of Technological Development regarding Tiberium.

Posted Image

Lastly, strange sightings from the civilian population in a number of locations have reported a new breed of "Tiberium Creature". Often witnessed hunting in packs they appear quite intelligent and have the ability to hunt & track their prey. Witness's claim to have seen some Fiend's launching what appears to be Tiberium crystals as projectile weapon's but this has been met with scepticism from experts. GDI has advised civilians to stay indoors while this sighting is being investigated, a composite sketch of what is being called the 'Tiberium Fiend' has been drawn up by our concept artist Joshua Wright.

- Title: Tiberian Sun Rising - GDI Intelligence Report -- Posted On: 10 June 2010 - 07:07 AM

To Top of Page

The Brotherhood of Nod has deployed their new Tiberium Refinery's to the battlefield, with Nod's knowledge of Tiberium they have created a Refinery with superior refinement & containment techniques to their last design.

Posted Image

GDI intelligence has intercepted the specifications for their new Tiberium Harvester which are attached, not much is known as of yet about the Harvester's abilities we'll update our findings as more intelligence is gathered on these new developments.

Posted Image

The Global Defense Initiative has commissioned a Mobile EMP vehicle platform that has been in research & development, in our efforts to catch up to the Brotherhood's development of the EM-Pulse Cannon. This has the advantage of mobility and being a self powered unit however its area of effect is less then that of the Brotherhoods EM Pulse Cannon. These can be deployed in a number of ways, defensively they can be used to disable enemy attacks and while more difficult if used successfully offensively disabling the enemy's Power Supply or Defense Grid is a good strategic use of this technology.

Posted Image

The last successful field test was performed today, confirming the Mobile EMP can clear fields of Limpet Drone's and scramble the navigation systems of Subterrain vehicles forcing them to surface until there system's come back online.

Further Intelligence Reports will follow as they develop,

- Title: Immortalize your map! - UF and CnCSaga 3on3 Map Contest -- Posted On: 03 June 2010 - 01:17 AM

To Top of Page

Posted Image

It's time to add some new map sizes to C&C4! Previous tournaments and polls have shown that 3on3 games are very popular. United-Forum.de ( http://www.united-forum.de ) and CnCSaga.de ( http://www.cncsaga.de ) are therefore hosting a 3on3 map contest!

Because we would love to see these maps in the game, we’ll add good maps to the UF and ESL ( http://www.esl.eu ) map pools. In addition, EALA ( http://www.commandandconquer.com ) has promised to promote and even consider good maps for a patch.

We will provide you with feedback / suggestions to help you to create the best maps, C&C4 ever has ever seen.

Rules
The final version of your map has to be submitted no later than the 22nd of June, 2010. The UF will host a 3on3 tournament on the 19th of June, which will be an optimal opportunity to test maps and get some feedback. Further details regarding the tournament will be available next week.

Submission
In order to participate, upload your maps either at United-Forum.de ( http://www.united-forum.de ) or CnCSaga.de ( http://www.cncsaga.de ).
You can submit your map at your preferred location and enter with an unlimited number of maps. Please keep in mind that only the best map will win though – so you might want to submit one or two quality maps rather than a bunch of rushed attempts.

You can improve your work at any time and replace your submission during the entire contest. We recommend that you publish maps early in order to gather the as much community feedback as you can.

Rating
The most important point is the playability of your maps. It should be fair and suitable for tournaments - please don't submit unbalanced fun maps.
Additionally we judge the overall impression and atmosphere of maps. If you create a snowy map, there should be snow, ice ... - a map set in the red zone should spread a doomsday type of mood.

In order to achieve this, the players' feedback is the key, because it takes some time to find mistakes or get an impression of the mood.

Here are some things you should NOT do:
 • Maps with 99999 Tiberium at the start
 • Maps with randomized events
 • Maps with TKN near or in the spawning zone of Nod/GDI

For all of you who want to start mapping now, check out this tutorial:

To Top of Page

As foretold, we come now to our update on Tiberian Dawn’s status. Don’t fret, my friends: this is not an announcement of the mod’s demise. The team is still alive, and the truth is, we are very busy—busy with real life, for the most part. School, jobs—you name it, we’re doing it—so progress on the mod has, unfortunately, been slow.

That is not to say we’ve been totally inert these last few months; far from it, in fact. Waraddict has been busy coding a new game mode as well as a new user interface, the Recon Bike has been finished and is now available for viewing here, and a few other items to announce.

First, on our little art competition, I have some good news all around. While we’ve received only one entry in the three-plus weeks since we announced the contest, it certainly met all the conditions we set, so we’re going to award Tyler "Tbguy1992" Bugg with his free copy of C&C4.

Posted Image

However, we’re still left with three C&C4 codes to give away, so we’re going to extend the contest for additional entries. The new deadline is June 21st, the summer solstice. That should give everyone time to come up with some great artwork. If you need to review the terms and conditions, look no further than here.

With summer coming up, you should be seeing plenty of regular progress as the team’s schedules shift from cages of responsibility into idyllic green plains of freedom. For now, simply join us in celebrating the mod’s three-year anniversary, and in welcoming the next year of the mod’s development. Expect lots of infantry, a few surprises, and as always, keep offering your support as we move ever closer to our release.

To Top of Page

Good things come to those who wait, apologies for the interruption in our regular stream of updates they shall now resume at a regular pace. We've been working on quite a few big updates that are getting there final polish and I simply cant wait for them to clear quality assurance to show you!, Today's update will be demonstrating something from both GDI and Nod ;). We've been taking your feedback very seriously and we've been making some tweak's to Nod's appearance you will notice. There will be further improvements made to Nod's overall look this is just the beginning but please let me know what you think so far.

Battlefield Analysis----------

Mobile Artillery
The Nod Mobile Artillery has been part of the Brotherhood's arsenal since the First Tiberium War, it has undergone various improvements since. This variant used in Nod's current deployment must deploy before it can fire a barrage but has a fairly long range and is more accurate & precise then GDI's Juggernaut Artillery.

Posted Image

GDI Carry-All
The GDI Carry-All can carry a wide assortment of the GDI's Vehicles, from vehicles as small as GDI's Wolverine all the way to the GDI Juggernaut. The CarryAll is unable to lift the Mammoth Mk2 due to its intense weight & size. The Carry-All is a quick way to transport GDI forces across the battlefield but be warned it is quite susceptible to Anti-Air fire and has only light to medium armour.

Posted Image

End Transmission

We will be working our way up to some of our bigger update's we've been promising in future week's, we wanted to ensure there at there absolute best so please be patient, we are still here working hard to bring the ultimate Tiberian Sun experiance to you! Please provide any all feedback this is made by C&C fans for C&C fans so we take your feedback very seriously that gets posted here.

- Title: Tiberian Dawn Anniversary Contest -- Posted On: 31 March 2010 - 04:57 PM

To Top of Page

Attention Commanders; this is a priority transmission. With the anniversary of our mod swiftly approaching, we’d like to announce a certain… competition. What sort of competition, you ask? Why, one that will test the boundaries of your creativity. That’s right: this will be an art competition.

Here’s the lowdown. Using whatever tools you wish, create a picture keeping with one of the following themes:

 • Your favorite moment from the original C&C—be it a GDI assault, a Nod infiltration, a battle, or another moment in the overall story—awesomeness is a must.

 • Propaganda for GDI or Nod—such as posters, pictures, or even advertisements—with an emphasis on in-universe accuracy. Make it seem as though your creations come straight from the First Tiberium War.

The entries will be judged based on technical skill and overall appeal. The top two from each category will find their place in the final mod, and their creators will find their names emblazoned in shiny glory in the mod’s credits. In addition, the victors will each find themselves the proud owner of a free digital download copy of C&C4. Heck, if we like your work enough, we may even offer you a position on the team!

How do you enter? Simple. Just email your submissions in .jpeg format to "duuude007@live.com" by 12:00 AM EST on April 23. As soon as we notice them in the inbox, they'll be posted on the CNC Source forums for all to see. The winners will be announced on the 25th, alongside a new update on the mod's progress.

You have your mission, Commanders, now enjoy yourselves and get to it!
